In the July 20, 1982 order designating groundwater basins outside of the four AMAs, the director designated 47 basins, 10 of which were divided into a total of 34 sub-basins. That order was not final because it was subject to rehearing. Rehearings were held, and a final order was issued on June 21, 1984. In the final 1984 order, the director designated 46 basins outside of the four AMAs, 9 of which were divided into a total of 27 sub-basins. In the 1984 order, the director combined the San Francisco River and Eagle Creek basins into one basin - the Morenci basin. There also were changes to several of the sub-basins. All the changes between the 1982 order and the 1984 order are described in the notebook entitled "Basin and Sub-basin Designations, June 1984."
There were no changes to the Verde River basin or the sub-basins within that basin between the 1982 order and the 1984 order. However, in the 1982 order, there are findings that explain that the Verde River basin was originally proposed as three separate basins: the Mount Floyd basin, the Verde Valley basin and the Verde River basin. The three proposed basins were ultimately combined into one basin in the 1982 order (the Verde River basin), and the basin was divided into three sub-basins: the Big Chino sub-basin, the Verde Valley sub-basin and the Verde Canyon sub-basins. The 1982 findings explain why the three proposed basins were combined into one basin and also explain that the eastern boundary of the basin was changed from the approximate boundary of the C aquifer system to the Verde River surface watershed divide. Patrick Schiffer Subject: RE: Question In the July 20, 1982 order designating groundwater basins outside of the four AMAs, the director designated 47 basins, 10 of which were divided into a total of 34 sub-basins. That order was not final because it was subject to rehearing. Rehearings were held, and a final order was issued on June 21, 1984. In the final 1984 order, the director designated 46 basins outside of the four AMAs, 9 of which were divided into a total of 27 sub-basins. In the 1984 order, the director combined the San Francisco River and Eagle Creek basins into one basin - the Morenci basin. There also were changes to several of the sub-basins. All the changes between the 1982 order and the 1984 order are described in the notebook entitled "Basin and Sub-basin Designations, June 1984." There were no changes to the Verde River basin or the sub-basins within that basin between the 1982 order and the 1984 order. However, in the 1982 order, there are findings that explain that the Verde River basin was originally proposed as three separate basins: the Mount Floyd basin, the Verde Valley basin and the Verde River basin. The three proposed basins were ultimately combined into one basin in the 1982 order (the Verde River basin), and the basin was divided into three sub-basins: the Big Chino sub-basin, the Verde Valley sub-basin and the Verde Canyon sub-basins. The 1982 findings explain why the three proposed basins were combined into one basin and also explain that the eastern boundary of the basin was changed from the approximate boundary of the C aquifer system to the Verde River surface watershed divide.
