Background- <\/SPAN>The Public Land Survey System was created in 1785 in order to survey the land west of the original 13 states. Various regions of the country have different, localized meridians and baselines for their surveyed lands. Arizona's center point is located on Monument Hill near the confluence of the Salt and Gila Rivers. <\/SPAN><\/P>

Purpose and intended use - <\/SPAN>This is to show the locations of the sections within all of the townships in the State of Arizona. This is for assisting in determining the locations of land for property records.<\/SPAN><\/P>

Data creation methodologies, processing, and quality<\/SPAN>- This data is produced by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the United States Geological Survey (USGS). <\/SPAN><\/P>

Data limitations \u2013 <\/SPAN>This dataset contains sections that are not recognized by all organizations, especially in the areas just north of Prescott. <\/SPAN><\/P>

Currency - <\/SPAN>This data generally does not change<\/SPAN><\/P>

QUAD_CODE: The quadrant of the state the section is in based on the Gila-Salt Meridian. A for northeast, B for northwest, C for southwest, D for Southeast<\/SPAN><\/P>

WHOLE_TOWN: The township number<\/SPAN><\/P>

HALF_TOWNS: The half township (if necessary, most do not have these)<\/SPAN><\/P>

WHOLE_RANGE: The Range number<\/SPAN><\/P>

HALF_RANGE: The half range (if necessary)<\/SPAN><\/P>

SECTION: The section number of the township.<\/SPAN><\/P>

TOWNSHIP_HOOK: Quad Code + Whole township + half township + Whole Range + Half Range <\/SPAN><\/P>

SECTION_HOOK: Quad Code + Whole township + half township + Whole Range + Half Range + Section Number<\/SPAN><\/P>
